click to bidI was down in Las Vegas this weekend and popped on over to Red Rock Canyon. I find that mornings and early evenings are the best times to paint these kinds of scenes because of how the sun affects the rocks. It creates some interesting shapes. I found this cast shadow particularly interesting falling on Rainbow Mountain just east of Red Rock Canyon.
It was such a nice day… It had to be in the 70’s. I wouldn’t have lasted very long if it was summer but winter feels just right.

I love this painting, Justin. I have made many trips across the barren Nevada landscape and you have captured the essence of it's beauty as only a gifted artist can.
Very nice, Justin! feels pretty cool...
So beautiful. I really like the colors.
Really nice, Justin. You've captured the colors and I like the soft edges.
I live in Las Vegas, have been here for 30 years...Red Rock Canyon is one of my favorite places on earth. I was delighted to find this painting of a place a love.
